Adam Sandler made up the ScubaSteve toy, but is based on a real toy Sandler had when he was young. The toy? Diver Dan.
Scubba Steeve is a running joke throughout the film, and plays a key role in a few important scenes.
In the film, Sandler’s character, Sonny, is trying to get his adopted son, Julian, to take a bath and study. Sonny dressed up like Scuba Sam, Scuba Steve’s father, and encourages Julian to do some things so he can become a member of The Scuba Squad.
